This is amazing. I've never seen a timeline by OurTimelines.com. This is very different from the Family Tree timeline by Legacy, which Cheri just posted on (you've probably read it).
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, with all these world events I forgot that Minnie was in Russia until I saw the immigration event in yellow. I found myself comparing the yellow entries, such as how old she was when Max Crane committed suicide. I wonder, like you, how much these events affected her life. The world events are spectacular, but I wonder about the local events.
Much enjoyed this post!
I like the www.legacyfamilytree.com timeline Cheri created. I like that she could add many personal events. OurTimeline.com limits the number of events you can add. I can't use the Legacy Family Tree software because it's not for mac. I like the OurTimelines.com version because it's available for free online. Also, another nice
Deletefeature is that it tells you what age the person was at every historical and personal event. For example, Minnie was 16 in 1912 when the titanic sank and only a year away from getting on a cross atlantic ship as well. I do have some sense of how some of these events affected her life, because of her writings, but others she may not have mentioned, like the titanic and I never really thought about it before until I saw it in the timeline like this. It's a great exercise!
Thanks for your thoughtful comment as always Mariann!
